if you were a teenager in the 80's, you knew who john hughes was.
i couldn't tell you who made the terminator movies... or the friday the 13th movies... i couldn't even tell you who made "gone with the wind". i don't care, really. but john hughes? man. we knew him.
you couldn't throw a rock in the 80's without hitting a john hughes movie, but that was never a bad thing. anybody - and i mean anybody - could find themselves somewhere in a john hughes movie. everybody has their favorite movie. everybody has their favorite character. everybody has their favorite moment. john hughes just had a way of making you identify.
i read somewhere this morning that john hughes was my generation's j.d. salinger. i couldn't agree more.
thank you, john hughes, for leaving such an amazing legacy...
